Dining at The Commoner

If you are really into homemade family style dining that is comfortable, this is the place for you. Our come as you are dining doesn’t distinguish between the Royals or the commoners. We’ve created an environment that lets everyone be themselves! Started by Chef Ardon Mofford, an award-winning chef who recently received a bronze medal in the Gold Plates competition, works with his Chef Jeremy Howell to craft a menu that draws on the comfort food you know paired with the exquisite local ingredients found around Cape Breton Island. The menu delivers options that are sure to satisfy appetites of all sizes.

Come start the day off with a hearty breakfast where you get up from the table, and you will likely hear, “now that was a good scoff.”

Lunch serves up options that get you in and out, so the boss doesn’t know you left, or you can kick back a little longer and enjoy every last bite!

Dinner, or as we call it here “supper” gives you a selection of soups to salads, some small plates for sharing to entrees of meat and seafood for the heartier appetite. We have choices for the vegetarian at heart and anyone needing customization for food intolerances or allergies.

Like spirits now problem we carry a wide variety of local spirits and brands from around the world or unwind to a neat scotch! Join us on Thursday through Saturday for live entertainment or come by for the Sunday afternoon Céilidh you are sure to get your toes tapping and you might even get in a square set!
